UN sets transitional plan for recovery in Derna

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that it was working on preparing a transitional plan to focus on early recovery and reconstruction and handing over some tasks related to long-term support through the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, as the end of the emergency response phase in areas affected by floods would end by next June.

Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Hawij has instructed the relevant departments to streamline procedures and accelerate investment projects for Chinese companies seeking to enter the Libyan market.

Al-Hawij made these directives during a meeting with Leo Jian, the Charge d'Affaires of China to Libya, aimed at discussing economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The first show for classic car owners in North Africa was held in Tripoli by Tripoli Classic Car Club, in the presence of the mayor of the central municipality of Tripoli, the ambassadors of Algeria and Mexico in Libya, and classic cars fans.

Gang leader sentenced to prison for fuel smuggling charges

The Criminal Court has convicted the leader of a criminal gang for deliberately trafficking illegal fuel off the coast of Zuwara city.

The court sentenced the defendant to six years and six months in prison and ordered him to repay around 113,549,821 Libyan dinars.

Additionally, he was deprived of his civil rights for the duration of the sentence and two years after its completion.

The Public Prosecutor's Office clarified Tuesday that investigations revealed the gang's deliberate smuggling of 165,669 litres of diesel fuel.

National "Reading Challenge" takes off, Souk Al-Jumaa hosts first stage

The Ministry of Education launched the first phase of the "Reading Challenge" competition on Sunday at the Abdullah bin Masoud School under the supervision of the Education Directorate in Souk Al-Jumaa.

Minister of Education Musa Al-Maqreif announced in his address at the opening ceremony that the ministry intends to roll out a national version of the initiative, distributing libraries to 900 educational institutions in the near future.

The Director of Kufra Teaching Hospital, Ismail Al-Ayda, has expressed concern about the spread of infectious diseases among displaced individuals arriving from Sudan to Kufra. He noted that the Ministry of Health has declared a state of emergency in response to this situation.

Al-Ayda described the health situation in the city as extremely critical, highlighting that a significant number of displaced individuals are suffering from infectious and potentially life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis, AIDS, viral hepatitis, malaria, and various skin conditions.
