Head of HCS renews commitment to outcomes of Cairo meeting with HoR Speaker

The Head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, renewed his commitment to the Cairo meeting's outcomes with Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, including the provisions related to the formation of a new government.

Takala added in an interview with the BBC that the 6+6 committee tasked with drafting election laws deviated from its course after returning to Tripoli and Benghazi and introducing many amendments to the consensuses reached in Bouznika, Morocco.

Libyan Investment Authority considers Ajdabiya Court's judicial guardianship decision illegal

The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) has said that appointing a receiver for its funds is illegal, saying such a matter occurs by agreement of the opponents or by a judicial ruling.

LIA clarified in a statement that the state order issued by the Head of the Ajdabiya Court of First Instance to appoint a judicial guard committee over LIA's funds was not a judicial ruling issued in a lawsuit, but rather a state order issued without the representation or presence of opponents.

Al-Swehly clinches 12th Libyan Premier Volleyball League title

Al-Swehly secured their 12th championship title in the Libyan Premier Volleyball League for the 2023-2024 season after defeating Al-Nasr by three sets to one in Monday's match.

The contest kicked off with Al-Swehly displaying exceptional prowess, clinching the first set with a tight score of 25-23. Despite Al-Nasr's efforts to level the score in the second set with a 25-22 victory, Al-Swehly bounced back, dominating the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-21 respectively, ultimately sealing the match with a 3-1 victory.

Relief for family as kidnapped child reunited in Benghazi

The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Saturday the liberation of a child from his captors in Benghazi and the apprehension of those involved in the crime.

According to a statement from the office, they received reports of the abduction of three-year-old Mohammed Ahmed, a Chadian national, to extort his family for a ransom of 20,000 dinars.

National "Reading Challenge" takes off, Souk Al-Jumaa hosts first stage

The Ministry of Education launched the first phase of the "Reading Challenge" competition on Sunday at the Abdullah bin Masoud School under the supervision of the Education Directorate in Souk Al-Jumaa.

Minister of Education Musa Al-Maqreif announced in his address at the opening ceremony that the ministry intends to roll out a national version of the initiative, distributing libraries to 900 educational institutions in the near future.

Libya adopts new mental health strategy with WHO support

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Libya's Ministry of Health have jointly announced the approval of the National Mental Health Strategy 2024-2030.

Following a two-day workshop in Misrata, which brought together mental health experts from across Libya and the WHO, the strategy aims to address pressing mental health challenges by focusing on prevention, early detection, treatment, and ongoing monitoring of mental illnesses.

The initiative also seeks to establish a comprehensive healthcare system, ensuring all citizens receive high-quality mental health services and support.
